TITLE: Official Description Change: Unsigned Iowa 953, Muscatine County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Unsigned Iowa 953 begins at a junction with Iowa 38 in the City of Muscatine and proceeds northwesterly to another junction with Iowa 38 approximately one‑half mile north of the City of Muscatine.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑953‑0(2)‑‑2M‑70, between the City of Muscatine and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of unsigned Iowa 953 from Iowa 38 northwesterly to the north corporation line of the City of Muscatine to city jurisdiction on July 15, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑953‑0(1)‑‑2M‑70, between Muscatine County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of unsigned Iowa 953 from the north corporation line of the City of Muscatine northerly to a junction with Iowa 38 in the SW ¼ Section 13‑T77N‑R2W to county jurisdiction on August 14, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of unsigned Iowa 953 in Muscatine County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 953 and its extensions in Muscatine County as follows:

Muscatine:

Beginning at a point on Iowa 38; thence northwesterly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Muscatine, connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northwesterly direction through Sections 24 and 13‑T77N‑R2W to a junction with Iowa 38 in the SW ¼ of Section 13‑T77N‑R2W.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Unsigned Iowa 953 in Muscatine County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Unsigned Iowa 953 begins in the City of Muscatine at an intersection with Iowa 38 and travels northwesterly approximately one mile to another intersection with Iowa 38.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Unsigned Iowa 953 and its extension in Muscatine County as follows:

Muscatine:

Beginning at a point on Iowa 38; thence northwesterly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Muscatine, connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northwesterly direction through Sections 24 and 13‑T77N‑R2W to a junction with Iowa 38 in the SW ¼ of Section 13‑T77N‑R2W.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 953 in Muscatine County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Beginning at a point on new Iowa 38 620 feet south of Center Section of Section 24-T77N-R2W; thence northeasterly through Section 24 and 13-T77N-R2W, connecting with Iowa 38 at approximately station 2089+00 (Section 13-T77N-R2W).

NOW THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 953 in Muscatine County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
